Diferencias conductuales y cognitivas en dos grupos de escolares con TDAH intervenidos con Arteterapia -vsMetilfenidato y un grupo control

Abstract

Introducción: El trastorno de déficit de atención e hiperactividad TDAH es una entidad neuropsiquiátrica, con prevalencia en la infancia entre 2% y 20%, su tratamiento actual asocia medicamentos y psicoterapia. El arteterapia en salud mental ha sido utilizado para tratar de cambiar el comportamiento y potenciar la cognición. Objetivo: comparar los cambios cognitivo-conductuales en escolares con TDAH tratados con arteterapia-vs-metilfenidato y un grupo control. Método: Ensayo clínico aleatorizado, en tres grupos voluntarios de 30 escolares cada uno que cursan el segundo grado, dos con TDAH “A” y “B, y uno control “C”, intervenidos durante 6 meses, uno con 9 talleres de arte en 72 sesiones y otro con metilfenidato y sesiones de juego, la conducta y la cognición fué evaluada antes y después del tratamiento con las escalas de ConnersTM3 y el WISC-IV. Resultados. Se encontraron diferencias conductuales al inicio inter grupos en 4 subescalas y después del tratamiento en 5, en “hiperactividad” para el grupo “A” y funciones ejecutivas en el “B”, los cambios cognitivos en el índice de comprensión verbal entre “B” y ”C” e Índice de velocidad de procesamiento para el grupo “A”. Discusión y conclusiones los resultados sugieren que el arteterapia podría mejorar la conducta pero no la cognición

Objective: To compare the cognitive-behavioral changes in schoolchildren with ADHD treated with art therapy-vs-methylphenidate and a control group. Method: a randomized clinical trial in three volunteer groups of 30 pupils in the second grade, two with ADHD “A” and “B, and one control “C”, intervened during 6 months, one with 9 art workshops in 72 sessions and another with methylphenidate and play sessions, behavior and cognition was assessed before and after the treatment with the scales of ConnersTM3 and the WISC-IV. Results Inter-group behavioral differences were found in 4 subscales and after treatment in 5, in “hyperactivity” for group “A” and executive functions in “B”, cognitive changes in verbal comprehension index between “B” And “C” and Processing Rate Index for group “A”. Discussion and conclusions The results suggest that art therapy may improve behavior but not cognition.
