The aim of this essay is to encourage researchers to investigate the impact of music therapy on cognitive function in people with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Despite the use of music as non-pharmacological treatment in people with dementia is well established, we identified a lack of research about the cognitive effects of music therapy in AD patients. Due to the actual high prevalence of AD, cognitive intervention programmes based on music therapy could constitute a fascinating line of research.ca_CA
