In recent years, the traditional glaze has exponentially evolved towards a digital glaze,
thus moving the application by contact to an inkjet application. These developments have
made necessary a remodeling in the traditional properties to adapt them to the required
ones for this new type of application. This study has been performed to evaluated the
mechanism of action of three commercial dispersants for ceramic particles. The effect of
different variables (the amount of dispersant added, type and molecular weight of
dispersant and pH) on the mechanism of action has been studied. These mechanisms have
been characterized indirectly by means of measuring viscosity, zeta potential and
sedimentation. [-]
