LGBT bullying in the classroom is the main topic of this master's thesis, which focuses on
bullying and its persistence in educational settings. This specific problem affects LGBT
students and demands special attention due to the serious consequences it has on their
mental health and academic performance. The main objective is to analyze prevention and
intervention strategies to effectively address this type of bullying in the classroom.
The study is based on an academic review on the topic, covering comprehensive research
and practices. It examines the factors that contribute to both physical and psychological
violence against LGBT people, such as prejudice and stereotypes, lack of education,
negative school climate and lack of support. The consequences of LGBT bullying are also
presented, highlighting the impacts on the mental health, emotional well-being and academic
performance of LGBT students.
The paper focuses on prevention and intervention strategies, such as the promotion of
inclusion and respect, sexual and gender diversity education and awareness, support for
LGBT students, and the implementation of school policies and protocols.
The study concludes with an action (role playing) to promote awareness of LGTBphobia in
schools. It highlights the importance of collaboration between educators, school staff,
parents and the community at large to comprehensively address bullying and to be able to
create a safe and bully-free school environment for all students.
In summary, this master's thesis provides a solid theoretical framework and practical
strategies for addressing LGBT bullying in the classroom. The ultimate goal is to contribute
to the development of inclusive, respectful and safe educational environments for all
students, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or
biological sex. [-]
