Anglicismos léxicos evitables en artículos científicos de salud mental

Abstract

A pesar de que el lenguaje científico debe ser preciso y claro, existen aún numerosas inadecuaciones, como el uso de anglicismos innecesarios. Este trabajo tuvo los siguientes objetivos: realizar un análisis descriptivo de los anglicismos en los artículos científicos de salud mental, establecer su carácter innecesario o necesario y ofrecer recomendaciones de equivalentes válidos en nuestra lengua. Se evaluó un corpus textual de 51 artículos científicos de psiquiatría y psicología. Para establecer el posible carácter innecesario se utilizaron fuentes de documentación especializadas y acreditadas. Los resultados y los equivalentes propuestos pueden contribuir a mejorar la calidad de la comunicación en esta área.

In spite of the fact that scientific language must be accurate and clear, there are still numerous inadequacies, such as the use of unnecessary Anglicisms. The objectives of this study were to present a descriptive profile of Anglicisms in scientific articles on mental health to establish their unnecessary or necessary character, and offer recommendations of wellgrounded equivalents in Spanish. A text corpus consisting of 51 scientific articles drawn from psychiatry and psychology journals was evaluated. Three renowned documentary sources were used to establish the potential unnecessary character of the Anglicisms identified in the corpus. Our results and proposed equivalents can contribute to improving communication in this field.
