In spite of the fact that scientific language must be accurate and clear, there are still numerous inadequacies, such
as the use of unnecessary Anglicisms. The objectives of this study were to present a descriptive profile of Anglicisms in
scientific articles on mental health to establish their unnecessary or necessary character, and offer recommendations of wellgrounded equivalents in Spanish. A text corpus consisting of 51 scientific articles drawn from psychiatry and psychology
journals was evaluated. Three renowned documentary sources were used to establish the potential unnecessary character of
the Anglicisms identified in the corpus. Our results and proposed equivalents can contribute to improving communication
in this field. [-]
