evidencias. [-]

The osteoporosis is a chronic skeletal disease characterized by a general decrease of
the bone resistence. This alteration predisposes to a higher fragility fractures risk, which
are associated to an increase in the morbidity and mortality and the risk of refracture,
with repercussions both on a clinical, social and economic level. In Spain, the prevalence
of the osteoporosis is 5.4% and the incidence of the fragility fractures and refractures is
increasing due to the population life expectancy increase. Therefore, it is essential to
carry out a correct secondary prevention of fragility fractures in osteoporotic fractured
patients.
The present Final Degree Project has consisted in the development of an assistance
protocol for the Reumatology Service of the General University Hospital of Castellón or
HGUCS (Hospital General Universitario de Castellón), whose objective is to standardize
the management of the osteoporotic fractured patient and adapt it to those patients
whose referral center is the General University Hospital of Castellón. To ensure a correct
secondary prevention program of fragility fractures, and thus reduce the number of
refractures, the opening of Fracture Liaison Service or FLS has been proposed in the
General University Hospital of Castellón. For all of this, a systematic research of the most
upadated scientifc evidence on this subject has been carried out and recommendations
have been formulated based on these evidences. [-]
