Development of a role-playing video game inspired in Maya Civilization

Abstract

This is the memory of the final degree project in Video Game Design and Development. In this document there will be presented all aspects related to the concept, design and development of the video game K’an, a role-playing video game set in Maya civilization that tells the dystopian story of Princess K’an and her desire to unify the city-states of the Yucatan Peninsula to face the arrival of the Spanish invaders. Special care has been taken to create an environment with tribal elements, a narrative and a level design in which the player has to visit all the relevant locations and the implementing of classic mechanics of Role-Playing Game (RPG), platforms and shooter video games.
