dc.description.abstract | The objective of this end-of-degree project is to raise awareness and highlight the importance of psychological harassment, hereinafter referred to as “mobbing”. Mobbing is defined as harassing behaviour, group attacks on someone, or psychologically terrorizing others in organizations. This phenomenon is quite old although it was not until the early 1980s that it was described and researched in a systematic way. More than 700 case studies have described the different stages of mobbing. Most of the present work is based on the epidemiological results of a representative Swedish sample carried out by Dr. Heinz Leymann and studies by psychologist Iñaki Piñuel. Epidemiological statistics from Leymann's study show that 3.5% of groups meet the definition of mobbing, or 154,000 of the 4.4 million men and women employed are harassed. The type of mobbing that prevails is the horizontal one that occurs between partners. There are no significant gender differences, but it has been found to occur more among men than in any other situation. Mobbing is not a type of harassment that occurs only in the workplace but also in other organizations (convents, associations, etc.), so a protocol of action against mobbing is required. Intervention design must address not only work-dependent relationship circuits but work-independent interpersonal relationships. Daza, F. M.,et al (1998) believe that prevention should address work design deficiencies (providing lowstress work, high work control, high decision-making capacity, sufficient temporary autonomy,...). | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
