Abstract

El manejo de la vía aérea es una habilidad fundamental de especialistas como los anestesiólogos, quienes realizan maniobras como la ventilación con mascarilla facial de forma cotidiana. De esta manera, si se utilizan instrumentos como la cánula de Guedel en pacientes en los que se anticipa una dificultad en el control de las vías respiratorias, ¿por qué no usarla de manera rutinaria mejorando y facilitando la ventilación de todos los pacientes en general, incluidos los a priori "fáciles" de ventilar? El objetivo principal es determinar si el VMF con la cánula orofaríngea es una mejora del procedimiento al aumentar el volumen corriente en pacientes anestesiados y relajados. Se trata de un ensayo clínico aleatorizado controlado que consta de 100 pacientes separados en dos grupos. Las variables recopiladas se dividen en aquellas previas a la inducción, que se recopilan de la misma manera en ambos grupos; y las variables recogidas durante la inducción, por un lado, en el grupo de control y, por otro, en el grupo de intervención en el que se aplica la cánula orofaríngea. Todos los datos se analizarán utilizando el SPSS, el test T de Student se utilizará para comparar variables cuantitativas con una distribución normal con una variable dicotómica, el test de Chi-cuadrado se empleará para comparaciones mediante tablas cruzadas entre variables categóricas. La ventilación con una mascarilla facial generalmente no es un procedimiento difícil, pero podría facilitarse mediante la introducción de la cánula orofaríngea, incluso en pacientes que no presentan criterios de dificultad, al disminuir el colapso que ocurre en el tracto respiratorio debido a la pérdida de tono de las estructuras faríngeas en anestesia general.
