procedimiento. [-]

Airway management is a fundamental skill of specialists such as
anesthesiologists, who perform maneuvers such as facial mask ventilation on a daily
basis. In this way, if instruments such as Guedel's cannula are used in patients in whom
a difficulty in airway control is anticipated, why not use it routinely by improving and
facilitating the ventilation of all patients in general, including the patients a priori "easy"
to ventilate.
Objectives. The main objective is to determine if the VMF with the oropharyngeal
cannula is an improvement of the procedure by increasing the tidal volume in
anesthetized and relaxed patients.
Design. This is a randomized controlled clinical trial consisting of 100 patients separated
into two groups.
Methods. The variables collected are divided into those prior to induction, which are
collected in the same way in both groups; and the variables collected during induction
on the one hand in the control group and on the other hand in the intervention group
applying the oropharyngeal cannula. All data will be analyzed using the SPSS, Student’s
T test will be used to compare quantitative variables with a normal distribution with a
dichotomous variable, the Chi-square test will be used for cross-table comparisons
between categorical variables.
Relevance to clinical practice. Ventilation with a facial mask is generally not a difficult
procedure, but not rarely, it could be facilitated by the introduction of the oropharyngeal
cannula, even in patients who do not present difficulty criteria, by decreasing the collapse
that It occurs in the respiratory tract due to the loss of tone of the pharyngeal structures
in general anesthesia. Meaning a greater efficiency and comfort in the procedure. [-]
