This document summarizes the process of development of my Final Degree Project for Video
Game Design and Development in the Jaume I University. The objective is to develop part of a
serious game using user-centered design and putting into practice one of the most popular
educational game design frameworks at the moment, Learning Mechanics - Game Mechanics
framework. During the development of this game, the intention is to find out how compatible this
framework is with the user-centred model and whether it also allows the creation of games that
respond to current proposals for gamifying the classroom. This game in question is a card game
aimed at high school students in order to help them learning the periodic table. It ranges from the
analysis of problems and difficulties experienced by students, through the design of mechanics,
artistic design and implementation, to end with testing that corroborated if the design
requirements meet the needs of the student. [-]
