Intervención individualizada en habilidades comunicativas: uso de fórmulas de cortesía y peticiones en un alumno con Trastorno del Espectro Autista

Abstract

El presente trabajo de final de máster muestra el proceso seguido con la finalidad de realizar una intervención individualizada en un participante de 5 años que presenta Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA). De este modo, dicho proceso de intervención centrado en mejorar las habilidades comunicativas del participante, se rige por dos objetivos generales: aprender a utilizar el uso de las fórmulas de cortesía “hola”, “adiós” y “gracias”; y aumentar el uso y la calidad verbal de las peticiones. Así pues, la intervención contó con un total de 11 sesiones específicas dirigidas a alcanzar los objetivos propuestos. Entre los procedimientos más relevantes utilizados en la intervención se encuentran el uso de pictogramas, el modelado, la imitación, el intervenir en el ambiente natural del participante y la enseñanza incidental. Tras este proceso, los principales resultados obtenidos han sido bastante favorables, sobre todo en el aumento de las peticiones de forma oral. En cuanto al uso de las fórmulas de cortesía, aunque el participante ha mejorado en relación a la situación inicial, este no ha conseguido utilizarlas a diario y de forma espontánea (ni en su modalidad oral ni gestual). En conclusión, teniendo presente el gran número de limitaciones encontradas durante la realización de la intervenció, en general el participante ha logrado mejorar sus habilidades comunicativas y, por tanto, se pone de manifiesto la necesidad de intervenir de forma más específica y sistemática en este tipo de alumnado, de modo que puedan aumentar sus habilidades de interacción y, por ende, su calidad de vida.

This master thesis shows the process followed in order to perform an individualized intervention in a 5-year-old participant with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Thus, this intervention process focused on improving the participant's communication skills and it is governed by two general objectives: learning to use the polite forms “hello”, “goodbye” and “thank you”; and increasing the use and verbal quality of the requests. Therefore, the intervention had a total of 11 specific sessions aimed at achieving the proposed objectives. Among the most relevant procedures used in the intervention are the use of pictograms, modelling, imitation, intervencion in the participant’s natural environment and incidental teaching. The main results obtained have been quite favorable, especially in terms of the increase in oral requests. In the other objective, use the polite forms, although the participant has improved in relation to the initial situation, he has not managed to use them daily and spontaneously (neither oral nor gestural modality). In conclusion, bearing in mind the great number of limitations found during the performance of the intervention, in general the participant has managed to improve their communication skills. Consequently, the need to intervene specifically and systematically in this type of student is highlighted, so that they can increase their interactions skills and, therefore, their quality of life.
