This work is focused on the comparative analysis of the translation from English
to Spanish of several songs from Disney movies. The main objective of the study
is to understand why Disney songs are not literally translated from the language
of the original version to other languages, focusing on the translation into
Spanish of the main songs from the movies Frozen and Moana. To achieve this,
it will be necessary to resort to the four poetic rhythms of classical rhetoric and
Pentathlon Principle’ proposed by Peter Low (2003). Therefore, when
comparing both versions (English-Spanish) the characteristics such as rhyme,
the amount of syllables used or the accentual distribution will be taken into
account. On the other hand, it will also be worth mentioning if the translated or
adapted version resembles or approaches the original version and maintains the
original message of the lyrics as well. The aforementioned is important since
Disney songs are aimed at a children's audience and therefore the translations
must be very meticulous as well as melodic. Finally, the results show that
Disney songs follow some parameter: they keep almost the same amount of
syllables when it comes to translating a song into other language in order to
maintain the melodic or rhythmic part, as well as they make the translation, as
faithful as possible to the lyrics, meaning or message of the original song. [-]

original. [-]
