The following research aims to study the violence in art from a claim perspective. Art
has shaped violence on multiple occasions, to represent historical episodes: wars, riots,
revolts, murders, etc. The iconography of violence has been very used, especially as an
advertising medium, although not always for reasons social complaint. This
investigation aims to show the violence, particularly that suffered by women, from a
gender perspective. Selected women artists question the values of today‟s society and
fight for feminist progress, highlighting the reality that many women suffer in the word.
These women denounce the aggressions suffered by women through their art. They are
exposed in body and soul in performance, using their body as a canvas. Violence has
many perspectives embodied in forms as varied as are the types of violence. [-]
