This longitudinal study analyzes the relationship between the Executive Functions (EF) analyzed in 5 years
and the Reading Comprehension (RC) evaluated at the end of the second year of Primary Education. It also
reflects the differences in EF among children with and without RC difficulties two years later. The sample
consisted of 179 individuals. To assess behavioral EFs, their parents and teachers completed the Behavior
Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF, Gioia, Isquith, Guy and Kenworthy, 2000). The results
obtained with the parent’s version highlight that EFs Work Memory (WM), planning and monitoring are
related to RC, with WM predicting RC. In the teachers’ version, the results are higher and show the
relationship between RC and all the scales of metacognition index, in which WM and the organization of
materials predict the RC. The results also show that children with difficulties present greater problems in
almost all the executive functions analyzed according to both groups of informants. The theoretical and
practical implications of the results are discussed. [-]

cuestionario Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF, Gioia, Isquith, Guy y Kenworthy,
