This journalistic enterprise project, as a Final Degree Project, aims to study the
economic viability of Pieles, a magazine specializing in cultural content aimed at a
specific niche, the Latin American community residing in València (Spain). In this way,
it is intended to fall on how they are, how they feel and how they try to show their art
to others, thus empowering the wide and multifaceted migratory diversity that València
welcomes, in the face of the negativization or the exclusion that this community suffers
from the generalist communicative panorama in Spain. It should be noted that the
Spaniards with a disposition to know the culture of the Latin Americans are also
considered as a potential public since both communities share cultural elements such
as customs and language.
This initiative is a one-person project, formalized as a digital magazine (in PDF
format) published on a monthly basis and hosted on a website. A prospective option
is to publish the journal in paper format, after the evolution and consolidation of the
project.
This business plan has a clear niche, because after a market analysis of the
competition, it has been proven that, although there are generalist media with cultural
sections in which there may be room for generic issues of Latin American, European
and Spanish culture, it lacks a specialized medium dedicated to a niche as important
as that of the Latin American community residing in Spain, which represents more
than 800,000 people.
This magazine will come up with initial high expenses that will decrease over the
years and survive from the sales of the magazine and customer subscriptions, as well
as from the advertisers that are achieved. In this way, it has been proven that the
developer will start to receive benefits from the second year of life of the company and
that the initial capital investment will be able to be fully amortized in the third year,
according to the forecasts. [-]
