The following research aims to show how parts of popular culture and mainstream media
shape the identity of people. This paper focuses on how the perception of individuals who
do not intend to belong to the heteronormative society are conditioned to believe how
their body should look, how identity should be formed and how gender, sexuality and
social relationships are expressed. In the first section of the work, there will be a
theoretical explanation from a diverse selection of feminist perspectives from several
different authors. It reflects what information and how it is displayed, both in the media
and current culture. Where one can perceive the continuity of the mandates of traditional
society that perpetuates gender inequality based on a binary system between men and
women, without taking into account the different identities of people as a positive and
enriching aspect. In the second part, an analysis will be carried out through the description
among various media. It will be compared with the developed theories and it will be
observed in which ways they influence the construction of the identity of the people,
focusing on women and people with sexual and gender diversity. [-]
