Schizophrenia is one of the most serious mental disorders, causes are very varied and
do not have consensus among the scientific community. Cognitive deterioration is one of the
signs and symptoms that cause greater disability in those patients. There are two types of
treatments, pharmacological and neurocognitive treatment. The effectiveness of
neurocognitive treatment for the reduction of cognitive deficits in patients with severe mental
disorder has been proved in several studies. The present study aims to verify that the
administration of cognitive rehabilitation treatments, such as the one used in this research,
“Pon en forma tus neuronas" achieves an improvement in cognitive deficits, which Become
into greater social and personal performance of the patients. The objective of this study is to
demonstrate that the administration of cognitive rehabilitation treatments, such as the one
used in this research "put your neurons in shape", achieves an improvement in cognitive
deficits, which translates into greater social and personal performance of the patients. Patients
A sample of 19 participants, 2 women and 17 men, diagnosed with schizophrenia, users
treated on an outpatient basis at the Rehabilitation and Social Integration Center of the Cruz
Roja Castellón, was selected. A pre-test was carried out to evaluate the cognitive functions of
the participants, then the cognitive rehabilitation treatment was applied two hours a week for
three months, and subsequently a post-test was done to evaluate the cognitive functions of the
patients after the treatment. The results obtained in this investigation show that the majority of
patients improved in functions such as visual, auditory and recognition memory; maintenance
of attention and division of attention, perception, abstraction, organization and planning,
cognitive flexibility and problem solving. All these functions influence the performance of the
activities of daily life and their participation in the community. [-]
