The objective of this project is to replicate the study by Pinazo and Nos (2013), in which the influence of the style of communication of donation and protest on
the behavior and emotions of the participants was studied, changing the subject of poverty by the animals rights movement, because this condition may be closer
to people than poverty. The first scenario generates compassion, guilt and indignation, while the second generates also injustice, immorality and predisposition to
the cause.
It is expected that there will be significant differences between the responses of the protest scenarios and the donation scenarios, and the initial attitudes
towards animal welfare aspects will influence the emotional responses generated in the situations presented.
We administered an initial questionnaire on animals rights movement and a scale on the emotions generated by scenes related to animal abuse. Both
questionnaires were administered online throughout Spain. This sample consists of 159 people between the ages of 16 and 66, with an average of 31.49, with
37.1% of men and 61% of women.
After analyzing the data, we reject the first hypothesis, in which we believe that the differences between the two scenarios, and that are minimal. On the other
hand, the second hypothesis is fulfilled regarding questionnaires 1 and 3, having an important influence the responses in these attitudes and habits, and the
subsequent answers in the corresponding scenes. Therefore, prior exposure to the animal rights movement had more influence than the introduction to the
situations (donation - protest). [-]
