dc.description.abstract | The addictive use of substances is currently an important public health problem involving a large number of psychological variables. The present study was carried out through the comparison between a group of ten men with a diagnosis of substance use disorder, who were in a process of unhabituation, and another group of ten men without any previous diagnosis, with the objective of knowing the relationship between two personal variables: self-concept and self-deception. For this, the administration of two questionnaires (IAM-40 and AF-5) was carried out to each of the groups and later, a statistical analysis of the data obtained through SPSS was carried out. The results obtained showed the existence of higher self-deception scores in the experimental group, while in the case of the self-concept, higher scores were obtained in the control group. In addition, differences were found between the two groups in both variables, although these only showed to be significant in the case of family self-concept. Finally, an inverse correlation between self-deception and three dimensions of self-concept (academic, social and family) was observed. Thus, the results verified as indicated by the literature that cheating constitutes a condition of the addict's personality, even when the latter is not consumed, and that the image of oneself was better in those who had never had any addiction. In order to verify the results obtained more reliably, it would be appropriate to continue with this study in a longitudinal manner, collecting measures of the variables, as well as increasing the number of people that make up the sample. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
