This article has been created for the main purpose of studying and finding an alternative method for teaching English vocabulary in second language teaching (ESL). Then, it can be considered as a project of improvement in education because it is a research experience connected to the internship period in which a didactic proposal is carried out in order to improve the manner of teaching a unit. For this reason, a piece of research for knowing the amount of vocabulary that has been learned by two different classes throughout their final results analysis has been carried out. These two groups have studied the same vocabulary using two different methods, Class “A” (3rd ESO E) have followed a traditional method in which the main support in its learning is the book. However, Class “B” (3rd ESO D) have used an experimental method in which the teacher has to open semantic frames in its students’ mind. For this purpose, different activities have been planned for helping them in frame activation and from which later they could be benefited. On this way, thanks to the use of the vocabulary learned the framework is activated and using role-plays students put into practice what they have learned. Finally, through the comparison of the results of the two groups that took place using a written test, several conclusions about which was the most efficient method and several reasons on it have been obtained. The final results did not show what we expected at the beginning of the project, they demonstrate the contrary. However, it was possible to get positive points which lead this research in the right direction, the discovery of new methodologies in vocabulary learning in SL. [-]
