The objective of this work is to verify if in the public sector the practices of motivation of the personnel are different than in the private sector and why. To carry out this final work of degree we have collected secondary information regarding the characteristics and relevance of the public sector in our country (such as the weight of public administration in GDP and employment), then we have studied the type of structure Which has the public sector in Spain (mechanics), and we have differentiated it from the organic one. We then discussed the main differences that we find in the public sector vis-à-vis the private sector, where the traditional structure, bureaucracy, formalization and high centralization of the tasks to be performed slow down tasks and make them lose efficiency and competitiveness against the Public versus private organizations. We have also highlighted the positive part of belonging to each sector, in this way we can better understand the incentives, motivations and factors of commitment and that find employees, both public and private sector. We have taken into account that the motivation and the satisfaction of the employees is essential to get a good customer service, that is why we have delved into this factor. We have explained the main motivational theories, the forms and motivating factors in the Public Administrations. Lastly, the working environment plays a fundamental role in getting a worker motivated and committed to the organization; Results in good worker behavior, increased productivity and greater cooperation in the performance of tasks. Finally, we have compiled the elements that influence a good working environment. Finally, we conclude the study with a series of improvement proposals to ensure that employees in the public sector feel motivated, committed and part of the organization. The improvement proposal is based on three pillars, structure, work climate and motivational practices. We have differentiated between two types of actions in the public sector, first improvement actions and secondly maintenance actions. Finally we propose a series of improvements for each action.ca_CA
