La «protohistoria poética» (1892-1902) de Antonio de Zayas Beaumont (1871- 1945) comprende los años anteriores a su libro Joyeles bizantinos (1902), donde empieza su obra de madurez, adscrita a la tendencia parnasiana del Modernismo hispánico. Junto a sus íntimos amigos Manuel y Antonio Machado recorre tertulias y descubre la pasión por la literatura. Este trabajo analiza la única obra poética de Antonio de Zayas publicada durante este periodo, Poesías (1892), muy cercana a sus modelos decimonónicos, pero interesante porque pueden rastrearse algunas de las futuras inclinaciones del autor. Antonio de Zayas Beaumont’s (1871-1941) “poetry protohistory” comprises the years before the publication of his book Byzantine Jewels (1902), where his mature works started within the Parnassian trends of Hispanic Modernism. Together with his close friends Manuel and Antonio Machado, he attended a number of social gatherings and he discovered his passion for literature. This article analyses the poetic works Antonio de Zayas published during that period. The book itself, Poems (1892), is very close to his nineteenth-century models. Still, some of the author’s future inclinations may be traced back. [-]
