PubMed, CINAHL, Cercabib y BVS.
AND.
enfermedad cerebrovascular. [-]

Introduction: Stroke is a prevalent problem and of special importance in the healthcare
field, since it causes great morbidity and mortality in people who suffer from it. The start
of early treatment, by activating the stroke code, is a key factor in the prognosis of this
disease.
Methodology: Review of the available evidence on the activation of the stroke code in
Spain. A bibliographic search was carried out during the months of March and September
2023. In the following databases: Cochrane, Cuidatge, DARE, Latin Lilacs, PubMed,
CINAHL, Cercabib and BVS. The following terms were used in controlled language:
“stroke code”, “nursing”, “Spain”, and were combined with the boolean operator AND.
Results: To carry out this systematic review, a total of 13 articles were selected after
applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Conclusion: Although nurses play a fundamental role in the care of patients with stroke,
the available evidence is insufficient to offer concrete recommendations regarding them.
On the other hand, the organization of prehospital stroke code systems provides obvious
benefits; however, these advances are not sufficient to guarantee optimal emergency care
for patients with cerebrovascular disease. [-]
