El teatro terapéutico en población oncológica masculina: Una propuesta de intervención

Abstract

Cancer disease has a high prevalence among the population and affects multiple areas of the patient's life and their relatives. Specifically, in cancer patients, differences based on sex have been corroborated. The proportion of men who seek, accept and adhere to psychological interventions is very small. This fact has been associated with the adoption of a repressive and rigid coping style by the male cancer population, which is related to greater emotional restraint. In addition, it is necessary to consider the influence of a masculinity stereotype that interferes accentuating such characteristics. In this proposal, an intervention program based on the Therapeutic Theater has been designed. The proposed intervention will include psychoeducational and emotional expression promotion activities both verbally and nonverbally. Through the use of theater as the main therapeutic tool, it is expected to obtain greater acceptance of psychological intervention in the male cancer population. To validate the intervention proposal, an evaluation has been carried out by experts opinion; which has been favorable, qualifying the program as adequate for the achievement of the objectives in the male cancer population. It includes as a conclusion the need to increase the number of psycho-oncological studies, expand the range of study and intervention to all those affected by the disease and highlight the importance of the initial exploration of needs to make a proper referral to the most appropriate psychological program.

El cáncer es una enfermedad con una alta prevalencia entre la población que incide en múltiples áreas de la vida del paciente y sus allegados. Concretamente, en pacientes oncológicos, se han corroborado diferencias en función del sexo. La proporción de hombres que busca, acepta y se adhiere a intervenciones de índole psicológica es muy reducida. Este hecho ha sido asociado a la adopción de un estilo de afrontamiento represivo y rígido por la población oncológica masculina, el cual es relacionado con una mayor contención emocional. Además, es necesario considerar la influencia de un estereotipo de masculinidad que interfiere acentuando tales características. En la presente propuesta se ha diseñado un programa de intervención basado en el Teatro Terapéutico. La intervención propuesta incluirá actividades psicoeducativas y de fomento de la expresión emocional tanto a nivel verbal como no verbal. A través del uso del teatro como principal herramienta terapéutica se espera obtener una mayor aceptación de la intervención psicológica en población oncológica masculina. Para validar la propuesta de intervención se ha realizado una evaluación por juicio de expertas; la cual ha resultado favorable, calificando el programa como adecuado para la consecución de los objetivos en población oncológica masculina. Como conclusión, se incluye la necesidad de aumentar el número de estudios Psicooncológicos, ampliar el rango de estudio e intervención a todos aquellos afectados por la enfermedad y destacar la importancia de la exploración inicial de necesidades para realizar una correcta derivación al programa psicológico más adecuado.
