This Master’s dissertation which follows the Educational Improvement Plan modality
structure, attempts to teach English as a Foreign Language specifically through a DU based
on literature. It also aims to collaborate in the task of proving the benefits that a literary-based
lesson proposal would provide education with. For that purpose, this paper will be divided in
different sections. In first place, sections 1 to 4, will be devoted to an introduction, a
theoretical background including the most relevant information with regards to the main
topics, a context section in which the different agents involved in the process will be
described and a final section devoted to the justification and criteria used to select the
materials used in the DU. Hereunder, points 5 to 8 will consist of a detailed report of the
Didactic Unit and the description of its implementation as well as a suggestion for
improvement section and the final conclusions. [-]
