El Duque de Lerma: la sombra tras el Rey. Patronazgo y corrupción

Abstract

Con la muerte de Felipe II se produce el ascenso de Felipe III al trono de la monarquía hispánica, ascenso acompañado por una de las figuras clave del siglo XVII como es Francisco de Sandoval y Rojas, más conocido como el Duque de Lerma, quien aprovechará la confianza que el monarca depositará en él para su beneficio propio y el beneficio de su red clientelar. A pesar de los intentos por parte de otros personajes de la corte, el marqués de Denia conseguirá un poder dentro de la corte como ningún otro personaje hasta entonces haya podido lograr. El objetivo de este trabajo se centra en el estudio del periodo más interesante, dejando aparte otros aspectos de su biografía.

In spite of the attempts of other characters of the court, the Marquis of Denia will get as much power within the court as no other character could have obtained until then. The objective of this work is focused on the study of the juiciest period, leaving aside other aspects of his biography.
