La contracultura de la Movida: pongamos que hablo de Madrid

Abstract

El movimiento contracultural, que posteriormente sería conocido como «movida», se inició a finales de los años setenta, con la caída del régimen franquista y la apertura democrática, y finalizó como tal, a mediados de los ochenta, aunque su influencia sigue estando presente. Las novedades musicales, un aspecto central de la movida, nos van a servir como hilo conductor para describir y comprender la evolución de la nueva ola madrileña. Para la comprensión de este periodo detallaremos sus hechos más relevantes: una contextualización de la época, su nacimiento, el papel político de Tierno Galván, la problemática de las drogas y sus medios de difusión. Por otra parte, en lo referente a lo musical, dividiremos los distintos movimientos en dos: el punk y el pop/rock, con la finalidad de esclarecer la evolución musical y su enorme diversidad. Por último, desde una visión crítica, expondremos las causas principales del final de una época de florescencia cultural y que giran alrededor de su mercantilización e institucionalización.

The countercultural movement, which later became known as «movida», began in the late 1970s, with the fall of the Franco regime and the democratic opening, and ended, as such, in the mid-1980s, although its influence is still present. The musical novelties, a central aspect of the «movida» will serve as a guiding thread to describe and understand the evolution of the new wave which took place in Madrid. In order to understand this period we will specify its most relevant facts: a contextualization of the time, its birth, the political role of Tierno Galván, the problematic issue with drugs and its mass media. On the other hand, as far as the musical aspects is concerned we will divide the different movements into two: punk and pop/rock, with the aime of clarifying the musical evolution and its enormous diversity. Finally, from a critical viewpoint, we will expose the main causes of the end of a cultural flowering era revolving around its mercantilization and institutionalisation.
