Unit 3: Applying for a job. Choosing the right job offer

Abstract

In this unit, you'll have to put in practice everything learnt up to now. You'll learn what a job ad is and be given the tips for finding the right job ad. You'll see some examples of job ads dealing with different job offers. A careful reading of a job ad and its requirements is essential before preparing your cover letter. Then, you'll have to perform a series of activities. You'll be provided with some job ad examples that will be useful to later write your application letter. In the last activity of this unit (Activity 2), you'll have to write an AL for the job offer given. Remember to include and organise correctly all the sections of your cover letter. Do not forget to organise the different paragraphs as well as to include coherently all the relevant information to produce an effective application letter. At the end of the unit, you'll have the chance to have your Application Letter peer-reviewed by other participants in the course. To do so, you just have to follow the instructions given.
