This research focuses on how ten journalists who work in the five most read journals in the United
States, such as: The Washington Post, Daily News, The New York Times, USA Today and LA
Times, cover the American politics’ news during the first month of Donald Trump as the president
on their Twitter personal accounts. The main objective in this study is to analyze and compare the
content posted and shared by those journalist for a month, and from then on, get to know if the
republican president monopolizes the mainstream media discourse.
The methodology used in this study is built on the quantitative content analysis used to discover
trends and unveil differences in the communication content. The final sample includes 1.388 tweets
posted on the 10 analyzed timelines between January 20th and February 20th (since the
Presidential Inauguration). The results confirm that when the journalists talk about Trump on their
personal Twitter profile. Mainly, they report and share their own content as a way to self-promote
their work, and less often, share their opinion. This fact reinforces the idea that many journalists
prefer to adopt a neutral position. [-]

en Estados Unidos, The Washington Post, Daily News, The New York Times, USA Today y LA
