Entre la libertad y el enclaustramiento: El estatus de las mujeres en al-Andalus

Abstract

El presente trabajo fin de grado tiene como objeto de estudio el estatus de las mujeres en al- Andalus, particularmente en el período Omeya (756-1031), las taifas y la dominación norteafricana (1031-1212). Nos centraremos en el ámbito urbano, siendo nuestro sujeto de estudio tanto las mujeres libres como las esclavas. Para ello partiremos del estatus que ostentaban las mujeres en la sociedad preislámica de la al-Ŷahiliya y en el corpus islámico, para centrarnos a continuación en el papel y situación de éstas en la sociedad andalusí. Solo así podremos ver cómo la vida de las andalusíes estará condicionada por la concepción del honor femenino o ʻird de la sociedad árabe tradicional.

The present work aims to study the status of women in al-Andalus, mainly during the reign of Omeya dynasty (756-1031), the Taifas and the domination of northafrica (1031-1212). For this purpose, we will focus on the urban areas, being our subject of study both free and slave women. We will begin with a review of the status of women in the pre-Islamic society of alŶahiliya and in the Islamic corpus, to further focus on the role and situation of these in the Andalusian society. Only then, we will be able to understand how the life of the Andalusians women will be conditioned by the conception of female honor or ʻird of the traditional Arab society.
