El papel de la impulsividad y el uso de las tecnologías en adolescentes

Abstract

Este estudio tiene como objetivo estudiar la impulsividad y sus diferentes factores en el uso de las TICS en población adolescente. Además, se pretende determinar si existen diferencias significativas entre los adolescentes con altas y bajas puntuaciones en uso a las tecnologías con Impulsividad Cognitiva, Impulsividad Motora e Impulsividad No Planeada como factores de la impulsividad (Barratt, 1994) así como estudiar la relación entre dichos factores y el patrón de uso y problemática en Internet, videojuegos, teléfono móvil y televisión. En primer lugar, se realizó una búsqueda de artículos científicos incluidos en la base de datos Web of Science que forman la literatura del estudio y, en segundo lugar, se llevó a cabo la elección de los cuestionarios que hemos utilizado para llevar a cabo la recogida de información de nuestra población de estudio (Uso Problemático de Nuevas Tecnologías y Barratt Impulsivity Scale - 11). Una vez realizado esto, llevamos a cabo el estudio empírico recogiendo información de dichos cuestionarios en población adolescente de la provincia de Castellón. Realizamos los análisis estadísiticos a través del IBM SPSS Statistics 22. Los resultados del estudio confirman que a mayores puntuaciones en impulsividad, mayor uso de las TICS, al menos en algunas de las dimensiones de dicha variable. Además, se encontraron relaciones significativas entre los factores de impulsividad con los diferentes tipos de tecnologías descritas.

This study aims to study impulsivity and the different factors in addiction to NT in adolescent population. It also pretends to determine whether there are significant differences between adolescents with high and low scores in technologies' use with Cognitive Impulsivity, Motor Impulsivity, and Unplanned Impulsivity as factors of impulsivity (Barratt, 1994) as well as to study the relationship between these factors and the usage patterns and problems on the Internet, video games, mobile phone and television. First, we carried out a search of scientific articles included in Web of Science scientific citation index that form the literature of the study and, secondly, we selected the questionnaires to be used to carry out the collection of information from our study population (Problematic Use of New Technologies and Barratt Impulsivity Scale - 11). Once this was done, we conducted the empirical study through the information from these questionnaires to the adolescent population of the province of Castellon. We have performed the statistical analysis through the IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The study results confirm the hypothesis: the higher impulsivity scores, the higher use of new technologies. In addition, significant relationships between impulsivity factors with different types of technologies described were found.
