dc.description.abstractSince the last two decades, third language acquisition (TLA)has drawn the attention of many linguists such as ( Cenoz & Jessner, 2000; Cenoz & Genesee, 1998; Jorda, 2005) among others. However, linguists have found several issues regarding this new subject of study. This paper firstly focuses on the theoretical background, more exactly, a brief introduction of second language acquisition (SLA) and multilingualism. The second idea of this paper is to investigate how Romanian learners are affected by their second language, in this case, Spanish, when they acquire English as a third language.
