The disappearance of the agrarian landscape ln the huerta of Valencia has been accelerated in the last years as a consequence of the advance on the disordered urbanization. This has given place to both a civic movement and a growing attention from investigators of diverse areas. The present article is a review of the recent publications about this topic. The text stands out the peculiar features of this agrarian space as well as the process of its historical formation. The arguments for the preservation of the huerta are mainly based in their ecological and cultural values. Also in the rich material patrimony that the irrigation and agricultural practices have left on the land. One of the most outstanding spaces of intensive agriculture in Spain is about to disappear and the agrarian history should debate about ¡ts preservation.ca_CA
