The aim of the work is to establish the mechanism of the hydrodefluorination catalysed by the synergetic effects of the ruthenium and palladium. These objectives can be divided in the following items. 1. Synthesis and characterization of well-known imidazolium salts that will be used as NHC ligands by deprotonation and coordination. 2. Synthesis of ruthenium and palladium dimers that serve as metal precursors to coordinate the NHC ligands. 3. Synthesis of new Ru-NHC and Pd-NHC complexes and full characterization via 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectrometry: ESI-MS (qqq) and HRMS (qtof). Catalytic essays over three different substrates using the metal complexes obtained in order to test their activity in hydrodefluorination reactions and the implication in the mechanism. [-]
