La mirada esquinada, doble (s) sentido (s). Lecturas y reflexiones sobre el cine y el mundo: Dame pan y toma palo

Abstract

There are so many things happening of late and they are so important in the lives of citizens that it difficult to keep the desirable balance and sensible reasoning when writing this section. The financial reform has made it quite clear, once again, who calls the shots and who the public powers of half the world obey (we will never tire of saying it over and over again: they are the same dogs with the same collars). What with all these laws favouring the wealthy and against the interests of the lower classes, the sense of something essential is being lost: the consequences that affect the lives of people. In other words, reality. And the fact is that we will all agree on stating that, with their demands, the only thing the “financial markets” (which, incidentally, were not voted democratically by anybody and God only knows what individual names and surnames they go by!) are doing is to increasingly exploit the remains of the impoverished economies of the world's population, bound hand and foot as it is by some dubious tale of the need for austerity, until it is left in ruins. Now that we thought Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was just a fable, it turns out the wicked Witch does actually exist… and tells the story. It is no coincidence that Snow White (Mirror, Mirror, Tarsem Singh, 2012) contains a dash of playful perversion. It is, however, still a conventional and rather inconsequential work that does not quite manage to take off, despite the endless references to the world of folk tales that give rise to a kind of déjà-vu and have been heavily exploited for a long time. Anyway, we are headed towards wretchedness, walking with dignity but with no chance of reaction, but it is they who are wretched.

Se están acumulando tantos acontecimientos en estos últimos tiempos, y son tan trascendentales para la vida de los ciudadanos, que resulta difícil mantener el deseable equilibrio y sensato razonamiento al redactar esta sección. La reforma financiera ha dejado en evidencia, una vez más, quién tiene la sartén y el mango y a quiénes obedecen los poderes públicos de medio mundo (no nos cansaremos de repetirlo: son los mismos perros con los mismos collares). Entre tal marasmo de decretos a favor de los pudientes y en contra de las clases populares, se está perdiendo el sentido de algo esencial: las consecuencias que afectan a la vida de las personas, es decir, la realidad. Y es que todos estaremos de acuerdo en afirmar que los “mercados financieros” (por cierto, no elegidos democráticamente por nadie y ¡vaya usted a saber qué nombres y apellidos individuales colocarles!), con sus exigencias, lo único que están haciendo es explotar más y más los restos de las economías depauperadas de la población mundial hasta arruinarla, atada de pies y manos por un no se sabe qué cuento de la necesidad de austeridad (ahora que pensábamos que Blancanieves y los siete enanitos eran una fábula, resulta que la Bruja sí que existe… y narra la historia… no es casual, pues, que Blancanieves (Mirror, Mirror, Tarsem Singh, 2012) tenga un punto de perversión lúdica, aunque no deje de ser una obra convencional e intrascendente que no llega a cuajar, incluso con las continuas referencias a la cultura popular de los cuentos que resultan un déjà vu cuyo filón viene ya muy explotado de lejos). En fin, nosotros caminamos hacia la miseria, con dignidad pero sin posibilidades de reacción, pero son ellos los miserables.
