Mad Men (Matthew Weiner, AMC: 2007) constituye una vuelta de tuerca a las (infra)estructuras narrativas elementales, que se aferra a un personaje que es pura máscara para alumbrar todo un mundo y arrojar así luz sobre una época y un país, que gira en torno al mundo de los publicistas en la década de los 60. Sin una trama muy importante como tal (no hay crímenes, ni grandes giros argumentales, ni ningún artificio de guión), nos mete de lleno en la descripción de cómo era la vida americana en una de las décadas más importantes del siglo XX La serie muestra con gran autenticidad los roles de hombres y mujeres de una era al mismo tiempo que explora la verdadera naturaleza humana bajo la apariencia de los tradicionales valores familiares de 1960 [-]

Mad Men (Matthew Weiner, AMC: 2007), which revolves around the world of advertising agents in the sixties, pushes elemental narrative (infra)structures just a little bit further by clinging onto a character who is nothing more than a façade in order to illuminate a whole world and thus cast light on a particular period and country. Although the plot as such is not important (there are no murders or ingenious twists in the story or artful screenplay devices), it does offer us a painstaking description of what American life was like in one of the most important decades of the 20th century. The series offers a very true-to-life portrayal of the roles of men and women at a certain time, while also exploring the real human nature that lay underneath the outward appearance of family values in 1960 [-]
