On Saturday 4 October took place in Paris the second manifestation of a night symposium that has been called nuit blanche. The event was publicized by all media (billboards, posters, advertisements, reports, Internet, etc.). It consisted mainly in the release of the public urban space, i. e., the collective and playful appropriation of municipal services. From a reflection on the conditions of persuasion, seduction and marketing that characterize the dominant models of advertising, a comparison with a different concept of openness is made. The phatic function is manifested in advertising messages to keep open the communication channel issuer-receptor and to induce a positive response from the latter. The nuit blanche has used this opening of the channel to award the receptor with leadership, actually eliminating the conative function. [-]
