MESH y DECS mediante los operadores booleanos “AND” y “OR”.

Introduction: Gender violence (GV) is a current public health problem that is in the spotlight
as it affects women’s health. Health professionals perform a great job by being the first contact
for victims, especially in the field of Primary Care.
Objectives: Analyze the role of health professionals in the detection of gender violence
Methodology: An integrative review of the literature was carried out to determine the detection
methods of gender violence used among nursing staff to prevent its consequences. We searched
on PubMed, The Cochrane Library, IBECS, CINAHL, ScieLO, and CUIDEN. In the search
strategy, the keywords in natural language, MESH and DECS are combined using the Boolean
operators "AND" and "OR".
Results: Through the search, 868 articles were found, which were reduced to 35 by applying
the inclusion criteria.
Conclusions: Health professionals must be sensitized, alert and have the necessary knowledge
to be able to put it into practice effectively and comprehensively in a case of gender violence.
In addition, the climate must be empathetic and positive for the woman. Systematic screening
is not recommended, but an active and alert attitude towards possible cases is.
Among the existing detection instruments, the WAST questionnaire stands out due to its high
specificity, sensitivity and adaptation to all population groups. Psychological abuse has to be
taken into account as well. [-]
