Salud (BVS), Epistemonikos, SciELO, Dialnet, Web Of Science (WOS), Enfispo e IBECS.

Introduction: The association of coronavirus infection together with an underlying
pathology could aggravate their prognosis and even lead to death. Due to the increased
vulnerability in patients diagnosed with hip fracture in the post-surgical period, it will be
interesting to determine the possible relationship and coexistence between this type of
fracture and infection by COVID-19.
Objectives: To determine the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and the
increase in mortality in patients with hip fracture. Likewise, to identify the impact of the
pandemic, to know the complications and risk factors and to determine the nursing work.
Methodology: The following databases were used: PubMed, Virtual Health Library (VHL),
Epistemonikos, SciELO, Dialnet, Web Of Science (WOS), Enfispo and IBECS. The search
was facilitated using keywords, DeCS and MeSH terms, inclusion and exclusion filters, as
well as quality tools.
Results: 5,374 articles were obtained, which, after applying manual filters, reading the title,
abstract and full text, and eliminating duplicates, were reduced to 24, which were used to
carry out the review. They have been organized according to the database of origin, year of
publication, language, type of study and comparative characteristics between articles.
Conclusion: Coronavirus clearly influences increased mortality in hip fracture patients. In
addition to the great impact of the pandemic in different areas, the development of a greater
number of complications and risk factors is significantly elevated. Finally, nursing will be
essential for these patients and optimal treatment and care will be necessary. [-]
