The feedback provides the assessment as learning and it is the key element of the formative
assessment, which is essential in the initial teacher training. The experience is developed in a subject
of the Degree in Early Childhood Teacher Education in the Universitat Jaume I (Castellón, Spain)
with the aim of finding out the students' perception of the implementation of this type of assessment.
It has been employed four techniques: 1) Weekly oral exchanges between the teacher and each
group (oral tutorials); (2) Systematic observation (through the group's reflective learning notebook);
(3) Students' productions (project deliverables); (4) Group oral exchange (intermediate evaluation
prior to implementation in a real context). The results of the questionnaire indicate that all the
assessment procedures have promoted learning to a high degree, the most being the deliverables
of the project and the tutoring with the teachers. This experience reveals the potential and relevance
of formative evaluation and the use of feedback in Higher Education. [-]
