With the rise of extreme right-wing parties worldwide, their nationalist, nativist,
and authoritarian speeches have permeated society, rendering an evident affective
polarization. In the Spanish context, Vox is the extreme right-wing referent, which now
ranks as the third political force in the country.
This research aims to analyze the representation of the immigrant people in Vox
speech through content and discourse analysis based on the Twitter accounts of the party
and its key representatives in the case of the migratory episode on May 17, 2021, in Ceuta.
The results of the analysis of 90 tweets (N=90), as a sample, show how there is a tendency
to dehumanize, reproduce social prejudices and categorize immigrants as threats in a
speech built on the fear of difference.
The conclusions indicate that, from the perspective of Peace Studies, these
discourses are examples of cultural violence that hinder the construction of a society that
seeks to settle in a Culture of making Peaces and are consequently considered as hate
speeches. [-]
