The aim of this final degree project is to study the characteristics of the psychological development of a subject over 60 years of age
from the stage eight defined by Erikson: Ego integrity versus Despair. To carry out this analysis we will use the contributions of
authors such as Erikson (2000), Havighurst (1972) and Baltes & Baltes (1987, 1990), all of them from a Life Cycle theoretical
perspective. The method used is based on life stories through a semi-structured interview, which has been elaborated from the
proposal of Villar and Triadó (2006) in order to know in depth, the life cycle of the chosen subject: a 64-year-old male. The results
obtained show the amount of information, measured in number of lines, that the subject communicates about his different life
stages (childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age) and about different areas of his life (family, work, military service, leisure,
friends, school, money, health, death and others). In addition, information from the subject's life is also found which is useful to
exemplify the theoretical variables of the study (developmental tasks, types of influences and adaptation processes). After analyzing
the interview, it is confirmed that the use of life stories has allowed us to obtain useful information to carry out the study and we
can conclude that, within the last vital stage, the subject is in the pole of ego integrity since he shows great satisfaction with the life
he has had. [-]
