In this research, we focus our object of study on the behavior of the electoral debate audiences, specifically on the target between 13 and 25 years of age, which includes those who exercise the right to vote for the first time. The objective is to elucidate the interest of young people in electoral debates within the media context. To do this, the methodology is used based on the audience data of the electoral debates between candidates for the presidency of the Government and their relationship with the media environment. This approach makes it possible to identify the behaviors of young people towards the format of the electoral debate and to point out some future trends. The results of the study go beyond the initial objectives because it is identified that despite the fact that many of the young people do not consume linear television, they prefer this media for debates than online or streaming platforms. This circumstance allows us to identify some opportunities that televisions that broadcast open-air and in a linear format can take advantage of, to the extent that live broadcasts and consumption simultaneously and through a screen other than the tablet or smartphone, stimulate citizen participation in social networks or instant messaging services.
