Health care in the fishing sector is key since work on the ship has a high accident
rate and access to medical and hospital care must be offered and guaranteed to the fisherman
wherever he is and until he regains health. Fisherman's health care is described and configured in
our country in comprehensive terms as it guarantees coverage during navigation and / or abroad and
is made up of different types of services. But, along with national standards, there have been many
supranational standards that have had an impact - for many years - on the regulation of such
protection, almost always exceeding our standards, currently, their contents. Recently, in the fishing
sector, after the delay in ratifying Spain the Convention No. 188 on work in fishing, the transposition
of Directive 2017/159 has culminated in the approval of RD 618/2020 of June 30 and Law 24 / 2020,
of June 26. This study presents an overview of all this regulation and inquires about whether recent
changes have introduced reforms in this area. [-]
