Vamos a trabajar

This end of Degree Thesis is based on a series of tools and methodologies to normalize
mathematical learning for first-cycle elementary students. We are going to work with Érika, a 7
year-old student who is in her second year of primary school and who has been diagnosed with
Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. Dyslexia can be detected at an early age but cannot be diagnosed until
the ages of 8 or 9 (Silva, 2011). As for dyscalculia, it begins to be detectable in preschool, but it
cannot be diagnosed until their performance level is two academic years below the expected in the
area of mathematics (Otaduy, 2020).
This intervention will be divided into eight sessions, two of which will be evaluations and the
remaining six will consist of mathematics instruction through manipulative work. We will perform
the first evaluation through the Tedi-Math test, then we will perform the SIX work sessions and in
the last session we will perform a personalized evaluation.
With this intervention we want to facilitate the teaching of mathematics both for students and
professionals who want to change the traditional classroom methodology. To learn mathematics it
is necessary to follow an order, always starting with the manipulative part. This concept is the one
we are going to defend and reinforce, since we consider that the most visual and manipulative part
is the most essential for all students to help them follow the rhythm of mathematical learning and
reach their symbolic knowledge. [-]
