Big data management has become one of the great challeng-es for the digitally hyperconnected society.Although it is acknowledged that the compilation, processing and use of Big Data generates impor-tant advances in areas like the economy, health, politics, communication, education and science, at the same time there is strong criticism because of the disruptive effects and negative consequences this process can generate for society, especially among the most vulnerable groups. The aim of this study is to suggest guidelines for designing an ethical big data governance system which, based on participation, dialogue and good practice and backed by various digital techniques and technologies, al-lows the socially responsible and morally valid compilation, processing and use of Big Data.
