In children's education, stories play a very important role in the construction of gender identity, and therefore have the function of transmitting important aspects such as equal values. But someti-mes stories can be counterproductive and transmit negative values such as gender stereotypes and condition the development of boys and girls. Therefore, this work intends to investigate the stereo-types found in children's literature in a 3 year old classroom, in order to find out if sexist stories are still being used in the classroom. This research is carried out through the analysis of the contents of the stories and a questionnaire addressed to the teachers to find out their opinions. Despite the fact that most of the teachers follow a series of specific guidelines for the choice of stories, we found that 83.3% of the stories present some gender stereotype in children's literature. Once the results were analysed, it was concluded that stereotypical stories were still being used, showing the inequality that exists between women and men. This fact suggests that many sexist contents are normalized by society and continue to be transmitted in an invisible way. [-]
