This work focuses on analyzing the coexistence in a preeschool classroom. In this way, it is
intended to observe the peer relationships as well as the classroom climate. The feelings of
acceptance and rejection have been evaluated through sociometric techniques. Specifically, in this
research, the nomination technique has been used through an interview with the students in the
classroom, to find out which classmates they want to play with and which classmates they do not
want to play with. After data collection, these were analyzed to obtain results. Among the results
are the sociometric values, that is, the positive and negative nominations received by each child.
This indicates the level of preference or disliking of a student among his peers. Another type of
result obtained is the sociometric types of the classroom, since, knowing the nominations received
by each student, it is possible to know which children in the class are rejected, ignored,
controversial, average or preferred.
Peer rejection is practically invisible in society despite having very serious consequences when it
comes to chronic rejection. Not all children find room among their peers. There are boys and girls
who, in the infant stage, already live the experience of being rejected. In these difficult situations,
the teacher has a very important role. At the end of this work, some intervention proposals are
suggested to help children in situations of social exclusion and to promote a good climate in the
classroom. [-]
